The Barn Loft windows overlooking the garden



The Barn Loft has the best views on the compound. It is a small hide-away with a ship's ladder leading to a sleeping loft under a skylight for viewing the stars overhead. An elegant double bed sits opposite the fireplace on the ground floor. The large windows frame views of Elephant Mountain and the rising sun and moon to the east, and the Point Reyes Peninsula and the sunset to the west.

The first morning light streams in at break of day across the double window seat. At day's end the same windows hold the moonrise over the mountain. Sunsets from here are spectacular. A beautiful fireplace sits opposite the couch/bed. A portable TV monitor with a nature video collection is tucked into the closet.
 

There is a tiny, but complete kitchen equipped for cooking and stocked with coffees, teas, herbs and spices.  Guests can gather their own fresh groceries at the bottom of the hill in town where the Tomales Bay Food Company, Cowgirl Cheese Company,  Toby's Feed Barn and the Bovine Bakery all await your pleasure.

A library of maps, field guides and naturalist writings about Point Reyes and coastal California are here for browsing. A private patio garden is set aside for loft visitors where a double hammock, barbecue, fountain and dining set invite relaxing with the resident hummingbirds that frequent the garden feeders. A hidden gate may be unlocked to connect the patio with the Gray's Retreat patio for groups.
